This March-May, St. Ambrose University is hosting a three part webinar series on Contextual Bible Study (CBS), with one session featuring WTC’s own Bob Ekblad. CBS designates a kind of biblical study that attends to the relationship between the Bible and the social context of its readers, especially readers on the margins. According to their advert, these webinars will be ‘led by Contextual Bible Study (CBS) leaders from Brazil, South Africa, and the United States — [and] will train faith leaders, activists, and organizers to read biblical texts from the perspective of the marginalized, so they might be used as an effective tool for confronting systems of oppression in our communities.’
The webinar events include a nice line-up of scholars who work in Brazil (Paulo Ueti), South Africa (Gerald West), and the United States (Bob Ekblad). These will be engaging webinars from scholars working out what it means to read the Bible with those on the margins. They are free events but space is limited!
